The Cu-Tone.

Stuart Corner from the University of Brighton designed and Built the Cu-Tone, a device for converting sound into tactile stimulus.
The prototype showed that it might be possible to teach the deaf to 'hear' by learning to interpret vibratory stimulus on the hands or arms.
